Coffee Black is a high school teacher and coach by day, and an up-and-coming hip-hop artist by night. Black Friday marks the first solo project from the Virginia native. In addition to showing off impressive lyrical talent, the 7-track project features deep social commentary on topics such as Black fatherhood, exploitative record labels, toxic relationships, and systemic racism. Above anything else, Coffee Black puts his soul into every one of these tracks by telling parts of his story and by paying homage to some of the people and experiences that have shaped him.

The summer of 2020 was one for the history books, and our artwork is always a reflection of the times around us. The “Rain Down” video was shot in Washington DC by Tramatize Beats—who also made the beat. In it, Ice Karim and A’mad call attention towards the ongoing issues of police brutality and poverty that disproportionately impacts Americans of color. Check it out below!
